The woman formerly in control of making "change" at University Hospital dining areas who was charged in the theft of $1.1 million was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in federal prison. Kyejuana Avery also was ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Scott Coogler to pay restitution to UAB and once she has served her sentence to serve three years of release under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office. The amount of restitution was not listed in court records on Tuesday. Avery is to report to a prison, to be designated later, on March 10 to begin serving her sentence. Avery had entered into a plea agreement after she was charged last summer with theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, according to court documents.
