University of Minnesota fraternity community threatened in anonymous letterAn anonymous letter threatening members of the University of Minnesota’s fraternity community was sent to the school’s Interfraternity Council on Tuesday. The anonymous writer, who IFC President Simon Beck identified as a male, said he planned to physically harm fraternity members, according to a Tuesday email to University fraternity presidents sent by IFC Beck. No fraternity chapter was singled out in the threat, Beck told the Minnesota Daily. Measures are being taken to ensure the safety of all fraternity members on campus, he said. Beck said the IFC has never received threats of this severity before. The University of Minnesota Police Department is investigating the incident, according to an email sent to chapter leaders on Wednesday by Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Danita Brown Young and UMPD Chief Matt Clark.
