Two Baton Rouge women accused of disaster fraud in August floods, attorney general says
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigations arrested two Baton Rouge women Tuesday and accused them of fraudulently receiving FEMA funding after the August floods, according to the state Attorney General's Office.
Both Baton Rouge women are accused of applying for FEMA money for properties that were not their primary residences at the time of the flood.
Kimberly Cage, 37, received $29,898 for home repairs, personal property and rental assistance, according to the report. Officials later discovered that she did not reside in the residence at the time of the flood and it was classified as a rental property.
Leslie Munoz Licona, 32, received $1,648 for rental assistance, but investigators said Licona also did not live there at the time of the flood.
