CHEYENNE – State lawmakers are asking for extra money for the $300 million Capitol Square Project despite earlier vows to reject further cost increases. The Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee voted Friday to recommend adding nearly $1 million for the project. The money would be used to start the design work on a plan to add educational and interpretive features to the state Capitol when the three-year renovation of the building is completed. This would include enhancing a planned student learning center and visitor center, and adding multimedia and interactive exhibits throughout the Capitol. An extra $2 million would eventually be needed to actually put the new features in place.
