The Carson City Sheriff's Office was closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon following a bomb scare. Around 4 p.m. a man entered the Sheriff's Office to turn in a grenade he had found and didn't know what to do with it. The building was evacuated. Employees within the building were given the rest of the day off. The Douglas County Bomb Squad was called in to investigate the device. The bomb squad x-rayed and used a robot to retrieve the grenade, which was determined to be disabled. The man doesn't face any trouble and Sheriff Ken Furlong said they see incidents like this at least once a year.
