Police are searching for a suspect who placed a "suspicious package" in a trashcan and forced the closure of Market Street in downtown Harrisburg at rush hour on Thursday. A male called 911 to report that there was a backpack possibly stuffed with a bomb in a trashcan near Third and Market streets at 3:24 p.m., said Harrisburg police Capt. Gabriel Olivera. Police quickly closed Market Street between Second and Fifth streets, and brought in a police K9 to search for explosives in the area. The dog didn't detect explosives, so a state police unit was called in to investigate. The explosive unit determined there was not a bomb in the backpack.
