Troy -- The Sage Colleges has raised more than $48 million toward its Centennial Campaign goal of $50 million, the school announced Friday. "Founded in 1916, Russell Sage College was one of the very first institutions to offer women the means of economic and social independence through preparation for professional careers. While preserving Russell Sage as a women's college leader and model," President Susan Scrimshaw said. The college announced gifts of $1.1 million from the estate of Helen Hamilton Clark, a member of the class of 1941, and a gift of more than $3 million from the estate of Jane Wardwell Roberts, a member of the Class of 1950. The college also announced, as part of its 100th anniversary, it will create 100 Centennial Scholarships valued at $1,000 a year. The academic scholarships will be awarded to full-time first-year or transfer students who live within 100 miles of Sage.
