MONTPELIER — Sen. Bernie Sanders is in general good health, according to Congress’s attending physician, who has served as his doctor for the last 26 years.
Sanders’ health is perhaps more important than any other presidential candidate’s this cycle. At 74, he is the oldest in both the Democratic and Republican fields. He would be the oldest president ever elected.
Sanders has maintained on the campaign trail that he is in excellent health and promised to release information about his health prior to the Feb. 1, Iowa caucus. The letter from his physician, Dr. Brian P. Monahan, which was released Thursday and dated Jan. 20, largely agrees.
Sanders is 72 inches tall and weighs 179 pounds, as of his last physical in November.
