AUSTIN — Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined a long list of other former public officials who register as a lobbyist after leaving public office, according to reports Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report in Politico, Perry met with Florida Gov. Rick Scott earlier in the day on Tuesday. The meeting, which was set up by lobbying firm Southern Strategy Group, was about an issue related to a dental company that donated nearly $40,000 to Perry’s failed presidential bid.
A picture of Perry visiting Florida was tweeted by the lobbying firm that arranged the meeting.
After the news broke about Perry’s meeting with Scott, reporters tweeted that Perry had registered as a lobbyist “out of abundance of caution.”
