GRAND RAPIDS - A federal judge granted Friday a temporary restraining order preventing enforcement of a "gag order" in one of Larry Nassar's criminal cases.
Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina signed an order last week that barred "all current and potential witnesses" and their attorneys from releasing any information not already contained in a public court file or from commenting publicly on Nassar's guilt or innocence.
Attorneys for several of the women who are suing the former MSU doctor, Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics challenged the "gag order" this week in federal court, saying that it was unconstitutional.
In an order signed Friday afternoon, U.S. District Court Judge Janet Neff wrote that the attorneys had "persuasively" argued "that the Gag Order is unconstitutionally vague, as it is not clear which individuals it actually covers and what conduct or speech falls under its scope."
