Proposed bill would clarify state ban on strippers under 21 as dancers' court fight continuesThe state legislator who drew up last year's law banning strip club performers younger than 21 in Louisiana has filed a bill aimed at bolstering the measure against a legal challenge. The law has come under attack from three dancers who argue that it violates their constitutional rights. A federal judge blocked its enforcement in February, deciding the plaintiffs were likely to succeed at a trial in claiming that the law is overly broad and vague. State Attorney General Jeff Landry made good Friday on a promise to appeal that ruling. Meanwhile, Senate Bill 144, filed last week by Sen. Ronnie Johns, R-Sulphur, is a direct answer to the judge’s order, aiming to make the ban on young dancers more explicit.
