A bill in the upcoming legislative session would chip away at Wyoming’s gender wage gap, one of the worst in the nation, by prohibiting employers from firing workers for discussing their wages.
Reps. Mary Throne, the leading Democrat in the House, and Charles Pelkey, D-Laramie, will sponsor the bill.
Women don’t know if they’re being paid equally for equal work if they can’t discuss earnings with their male colleagues, Throne said. It’s a barrier.
The Cheyenne representative added that workers wouldn’t be required to discuss pay under the law, either.
