SC student can avoid prison for spitting in food, attorney saysCOLUMBIA — An attorney says a University of South Carolina student has a chance to avoid prison after she was recorded spitting and pouring household cleaner into her roommates’ food last year. Multiple media outlets report attorney Seth Rose says his client, 24-year-old Hayley King, has entered pre-trial intervention. Meanwhile, the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office has placed a charge of malicious tampering with food on hold. King’s two roommates told police they set up cameras because they were afraid of what King might do after fights. A Columbia Police Department report indicates video recorded on the morning of Feb. 4, 2015, appears to show King spitting into food containers and spraying a cleaner on food. Rose says King regrets her actions and that the public doesn’t know all the facts. chronicle.augusta.com/latest-news/2016-01-30/sc-student-can-avoid-prison-spitting-food-attorney-says?v=1454162703
