Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has renewed efforts to remove the judge overseeing his criminal case. In objections filed Wednesday, lawyers for Paxton argued that state District Judge George Gallagher should be removed because a relevant appointment had expired at the end of 2016. “Paxton objects to Judge Gallagher’s continued participation and rulings,” the court filing said. All Gallagher rulings made in the meantime should be voided, including the judge’s March 30 order moving Paxton’s trial from Collin County to Houston, defense lawyers argued in objections filed with Mary Murphy, the presiding judge of the Dallas-based 1st Administrative Judicial Region.
