Two Charleston County Aviation Authority employees were fired Monday, one week after they filed a whistleblower’s lawsuit alleging they were demoted after pointing out spending irregularities and the agency’s top leaders’ failure to follow purchasing policies. The complaint, filed by former accounting assistants Karina Labossiere and Darla Seidel, alleges all departments at the airport followed procedures except administration, which is headed by CEO Paul Campbell. Campbell, a state senator, declined to comment, referring questions to Arnold Goodstein, the authority’s attorney. Goodstein said the former staffers were fired because it’s not proper to have someone working for an agency and suing it at the same time. “They were terminated this morning,” Goodstein said Monday.
