The Republican majority in the West Virginia House of Delegates rebuffed a Democrat-led proposal Monday to put off paying the state’s bills due this week and instead help fund a $120 million hole in the Public Employees Insurance Agency program that faces massive cuts next year. During an hour-long debate on the House floor, Democrats blasted Republicans for failing to develop a fix for PEIA, which provides health insurance to more than 200,000 public employees and retirees. GOP House members accused Democrats of political shenanigans.
