Woman, 25, survives 200-foot plunge from George Washington BridgeA 25-year-old New Jersey woman astonishingly survived a 200-foot plunge Monday from the George Washington Bridge. The unidentified woman suffered a severe leg injury, police sources said. It was unclear whether her leg could be saved. A security guard near the bridge’s north tower spotted the woman in the Hudson River around 5 p.m. and the crew of a nearby boat plucked her from the water at 5:07 p.m., said Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo. The woman, who was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, was alert on her way to the hospital, according to Port Authority officials. An investigation found she likely jumped in the area of the bridge’s Manhattan tower. Cops recovered her car on Fort Washington Ave. in Manhattan, Pentangelo said.
