Wolf overstepped his authority shutting the Public Employees Retirement CommissionThe Public Employee Retirement Commission (PERC) is not likely one of the hot-button issues discussed by families around the dinner table, but this little-known commission does important work to help protect taxpayers. The commission has two primary responsibilities, to review and provide actuarial notes for all proposed pension reform legislation and to review the health of Pennsylvania's municipal pension plans and certify this information to the auditor general's office, for the distribution of state municipal pension aid. The commission has fulfilled these responsibilities for over 30 years. The commission had its funding completely eliminated from the $30.26 billion budget the General Assembly passed in late December, by the governor's veto pen.
