Richmond police officer charged with murder in off-duty car wash shootingA Richmond police officer has been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony after shooting an 18-year-old man while off duty in October, according to Chesterfield County police. David L. Cobb, 47, of Richmond was having a vehicle washed at the Better Vision car wash connected to the Sunoco gas station at 7559 Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield. That’s when the teen, Paterson Brown Jr. of Chesterfield, got in the vehicle and drove it out of the wash bay, according to Chesterfield police. Cobb told Brown to exit the vehicle, which led to a confrontation, at which point Cobb shot Brown, Chesterfield police wrote in a news release Thursday night. A Chesterfield grand jury indicted Cobb after hearing the facts of the investigation Wednesday. Cobb turned himself in Thursday evening, and he’s being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond, according to the news release.
