Senate committee advances bill addressing sex between teachers, adult students CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Senate Judiciary Committee gave its approval Friday to a bill that would criminalize sexual relations between school district employees and students who are 18 years old or older. Senate File 50 was brought forth by Sen. Brian Boner, R-Douglas, who said it attempts to close a loophole in state law, which prohibits school staff from relations with underage students, but not adults. Boner clarified the bill only covers school faculty where the students attend the same district, and the faculty are aware of that fact. Also, if the age difference between student and faculty member is less than four years, no criminal charges would apply under SF 50.
