The Legislative Ethics Commission has assessed former western New York Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak $100,000 worth of fines for the harassment he subjected women employees to and for the misuse of state resources more than two years ago.
Gabryszak resigned in January 2014 following charges of harassment.
Lawsuits followed and more recently, the Joint Commission on Legislative Ethics agreed that Gabryszak had improperly harassed the women. They then turned their findings over to the legislative commission which agreed that Gabryszak’s behavior was a violation of public officers law.
Of the $100,000 penalty, $70,000 is for the harassment of seven women; $10,000 represents a fine for misappropriating state resources for his political campaign and $20,000 is for the ”benefit received” through his misdeeds.
