GILFORD - The town's insurer has agreed to pay the owner of a local strip club $118,000 to settle claims stemming from a 2011 police raid on the establishment. Willard Drew, the owner of a club then known as Mardi Gras North, filed suit in October of 2014 claiming his rights were violated and his reputation damaged by the Oct. 11, 2011, state Drug Task Force raid. On Tuesday, Drew's lawyer, David Bownes of Laconia, filed a "Stipulation of Dismissal With Prejudice" with the court, which means the case is now closed. In the settlement, Drew will receive $92,000 and his attorney will get $26,000 in fees. Bownes said he would not comment beyond saying "It was a tough case and I'm glad it's behind us.” See more at: www.unionleader.com/Gilford-to-pay-strip-club-owner-118k-settlement
