A maintenance director for the state who remained on the job last month amid criminal allegations he sexually assaulted two employees is no longer a state employee, the Herald has learned. Edward Nicosia, a $90,000-a-year regional director at the
Division of Capital Asset Management, resigned from his position last week, according to DCAMM officials, or roughly a month after he went before a judge to answer to multiple assault counts. Officials at the agency, which handles facilities management, construction, and real estate services for the state, could not provide a copy of a letter of resignation yesterday and declined further comment. Nicosia refused comment when reached by phone, telling a Herald reporter that he found his call “harassing” before referring questions to his lawyer. The attorney, William Barabino, acknowledged that there have been “developments” with Nicosia’s employment.
