Resume battles, visions for office dominate first debate in three-way Democratic field for Attorney GeneralAs it has before, the 2016 race for Attorney General in Pennsylvania is going to feature another significant discussion about the office's role in state government, and who is best qualified to lead it. At an initial debate between the three Democratic Party candidates Saturday, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli took several, sharp shots at Montgomery County commissioner Josh Shapiro's light legal experience. Shapiro, meanwhile, replied it is the overall breadth of his professional career that leaves him best suited not only to lead the office, but to reposition it to do the most good for Pennsylvanians. The three Democrats, including Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala, are now running for an open seat with Tuesday's announcement by embattled incumbent Kathleen Kane that she will not seek a second term.
