More than 100 protesters with the African-American group New Era Detroit withstood the rain to demonstrate Friday night outside Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn over the police officer-involved shooting of Kevin Matthews.
The demonstrators were blocked from entering the mall by Dearborn police.
About 40 Dearborn officers stood in front of the entrances and patrolled the area as the protesters called for a boycott of Dearborn.
“No black dollars in Dearborn,” a protester yelled. “Boycott Dearborn,” the crowd chanted.
