General Assembly: A push for driver's licenses for undocumented immigrantsPROVIDENCE, R.I. — Immigrant-rights supporters Wednesday launched their latest campaign to add Rhode Island to the list of states that allow undocumented immigrants to legally drive a car. At a rally in the State House rotunda, a group of lawmakers cheered on by dozens of immigrants unveiled bills to create a "driving privilege license" for those who can't produce a Social Security number or prove their legal status, who might benefit from such a license.
