Northumberland County elected official accused of stealing $12K from scholarship fund
An elected Northumberland County official has been charged with stealing more than $12,000 from a scholarship and memorial fund started in honor of a long-time wrestling coach, the attorney general said Wednesday. Justin Richard Dunkelberger, 38, of Northumberland, who is the elected county prothonotary, was accused of writing checks from the Lockcuff Memorial/Scholarship Fund, which was started after the 2013 death of Phil Lockcuff, long-time wrestling coach at Shikellamy High School. The fund's purpose was to provide financial assistance for the continuing education of student-athletes, said the attorney general's office. Dunkelberger is accused of writing 10 checks from the fund totaling $10,320 and depositing them in his personal bank account, said the attorney general.
