Michael and Laura Rigas have invested their money wisely, and now they’re reaping the payoff. Living in Virginia in 2014, the two drifters decided to take a flier on a penny stock — the Charlie Baker for Governor campaign. They each threw in $1,100, plus another $750 for Karyn Polito, the future lieutenant governor. Virginia may be for lovers, but Massachusetts is for hacks, and now the Rigases are employed by the guy they paid $2,200 to. Michael is “chief of staff” in Veterans Services for $112,000 a year. And Laura is “communications director” for the Department of Education for $96,900. Do the math.
