CHEYENNE – A bill that would block school districts from demanding to see or access students’ social media accounts got the go-ahead from a House committee Friday. The House Education Committee voted 6-3 to recommend Senate File 14 and send it to the House floor for more debate. The proposal was initially voted down by the state Senate earlier in the session. But after a reconsideration vote, the chamber passed the bill on an 18-12 decision. The proposal would prevent school officials from forcing students to let them view the account unless they get permission from their parents or get a court order.
