CHEYENNE – Lawmakers are close to finalizing a bill that could help Wyoming’s cities, towns and counties avoid extra layoffs and other painful budget cuts. The state Senate voted Tuesday to give the localities $105 million from the state’s rainy-day fund for the upcoming two-year period. The amount is significantly less than the $183 million that the local governments received from the state in the current biennium. But the $105 million, which has now been approved by the state Senate and House, is a boost from the $90 million that originally was recommended by the Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee.
