Care for disabled children under age three would shift to the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities under proposed legislation introduced today that is part of Gov. John Kasich's mid-biennium budget review. The care program would be moved from the Department of Health under the proposal that will be detailed by state officials at a press conference later today at the Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities in Wooster. The changes are part of House Bill 483, sponsored by Rep. Ron Amstutz of Wooster, the No. 2 Republican in the Ohio House. Amstutz said the legislation would shift money between agencies, but would not substantially increase the total budget.
