State Sen. John Horhn of Jackson likened the state seeking to remove Jackson's control over the authority overseeing the Jackson-Evers International Airport to "a school yard bully." Horhn urged his fellow senators Thursday not to approve Senate Bill 2162, filed by state Sen. Josh Harkins, R-Flowood. "It's a move a school yard bully would make. You are doing it because you can; not because it's needed," Horhn said moments before the Senate passed the bill 29-18 to create a nine-member regional committee to oversee the airport. Harkins said there is no takeover. He said the bill would create a regional authority with representation from Jackson, Madison and Rankin counties, and others.
