The family of D.J. Henry, a black college football player shot and killed by police in New York state in 2010, has accepted a $6 million offer from the town where their son was gunned down. "The Henry's agreed to take that offer," family attorney Michael H. Sussman said today. "The family, from the beginning, wanted to get the truth. Nothing can excuse what happened. No money can make up for the loss of their son." The agreement is with the village of Pleasantville, N.Y., and the police officer who shot Danroy "D.J." Henry of Easton, Mass., Oct. 18, 2010, near a restaurant in Thornwood, N.Y. Henry was shot in his car as he drove through a parking lot away from a bar as people spilled out during a Homecoming Day event for Pace University. Aaron Hess, the officer who shot Henry, was cleared by a grand jury and did not face any federal charges. Henry was black; Hess is white.
