Ex-Virginia Beach car dealership owner pleads guilty to nearly $870,000 fraud The former owner of a Virginia Beach car dealership who moved to Iran in 2008 or 2009 while police and federal agents were investigating his business practices pleaded guilty Monday to participating in a nearly $870,000 fraud. Andysheh “Andy” Ayatollahi – who returned to the United States in December after at least five years abroad – is to be sentenced July 13 in U.S. District Court in Norfolk. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Salsbury and Lawrence Hunter Woodward Jr., Ayatollahi’s attorney, declined to comment on the case. According to court documents, Ayatollahi, now 36, was a partial owner of the now-defunct Car Store, which was south of Lynnhaven Mall. He bought a half interest in the dealership in July 2007 for $350,000 and took over the company’s management.
