CHEYENNE – State budget cut will affect thousands of Wyoming residents who previously had been eligible for hundreds of dollars in tax rebates or refunds. The two-year budget bill that was signed into law earlier this month defunded the state’s $8.4 million tax refund program for elderly and disabled residents. The tax refund program was started in 1976 in order to provide an annual refund of sales and use taxes, property taxes and utility and energy costs to seniors or disabled residents. Only individuals making less than $17,500 a year or couples making less than a combined $28,500 are eligible for the funds.
