CONCORD — The Senate Thursday put off action on a bill to establish one casino in the state. Senate Bill 551 was tabled at the request of its prime sponsor and longtime casino gambling advocate, Sen. Lou D’Allesandro, D-Manchester. The Senate Finance Committee removed Rockingham Park in Salem as the location of the casino last week, and instead instituted a bidding process to determine the facility’s location and operator. The change is intended to help find the one vote needed to pass the bill, although it faces sure defeat in the House, which has never approved casino gambling.
