SAYREVILLE — A Sayreville police officer was shot and killed near the Amboy Cinemas Monday morning, two law enforcement sources told NJ Advance Media.
Citing unnamed sources, NBC New York reported that the officer may have been investigating a suspicious suspect, and was in his personal vehicle.
Reached for comment early Monday, Sayreville police would not describe the nature of the investigation, but said that officers were on scene.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office could not be reached for comment.
