Supporters rally for measure to ban workplace bias against LGBT Nebraskans; foes call it unnecessaryLINCOLN — Supporters of a bill that would ban job discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity rallied at the Capitol on Tuesday. About 200 people gathered to call for passage of Legislative Bill 586, introduced by State Sen. Adam Morfeld of Lincoln. The rally occurred on the eve of renewed legislative debate about the measure. Morfeld expressed optimism about the bill’s chances this year, saying the opinions of Nebraskans have been evolving. He also vowed not to let the matter die if it does not succeed this year. “It can pass this year or it cannot pass this year. In any case, we will be back next year, and we will keep coming back until we get equality for all,” he said.
