PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Rhode Island beauty queen has lost her world-spanning crown.
Anea Garcia, who as Miss Rhode Island finished third in the 2015 Miss USA pageant, was stripped of her most recent title of Miss Grand International for failing to meet the requirements of the job.
The Miss Grand International Organization released a statement on its Facebook page Thursday saying, "with immediate effect, Miss Anea Garcia will step down from her position as Miss Grand International 2015 due to [being] unable to fulfill and follow the contractual agreement with Miss Grand International Organization."
Garcia, 21, a student at Roger Williams University, has a double major in legal studies and philosophy with the hope of becoming a prosecutor, according to the Miss USA website.
