The three long-shot Democrats who say they want to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Tim Scott and 1st District U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford have been slow to actually file for the races. At least one is still making appeals to help raise the filing fee. In an email last week, North Charleston church pastor Thomas Dixon reached out to supporters asking them to help him collect the $10,440 needed to get on the Democratic ballot to challenge Scott in November. “Will you please help me by contributing to my campaign ... a Democratic ‘David’ who is ready to make a stand and win against Tim Scott, a ‘Goliath’ in the Republican Party?” Dixon wrote.
