Federal Energy Assistance Program to begin processing applications this week
Low income families may apply for federal energy assistance starting this week.
The Kansas Department for Children and Families said it will begin accepting applications Tuesday for its annual Low Income Energy Assistance Program to help qualifying households pay winter heating bills.
The primary groups assisted are people with disabilities, older adults and families with children, the DCF said in a release.
“The frigid temperatures are here, and many families are struggling to stay warm,” Phyllis Gilmore, secretary of the department, said in the release. “We have … staff trained and ready to begin processing applications, so families can afford to heat their homes.”
