CHEYENNE – Employees in the state Construction Management Division and the School Facilities Department are about to get cozy.
The Legislature passed a bill in its recent session that merges the two into one State Construction Department.
The School Facilities Department handles all K-12 construction in the state while the Construction Management Division, currently housed under the Department of Administration and Information, oversees all other state construction.
Senator Phil Nicholas, R-Laramie, one of the sponsors of Senate File 92, said, “We just need a higher level of expertise and more accountability, and we think this bill will help arrive at that.”
