Bill to issue work licenses to young immigrants advances; Ricketts has voiced oppositionLINCOLN — A bill that would allow young people brought to this country illegally as children to obtain professional and commercial licenses cleared the second round of debate Thursday. But the measure will undoubtedly face roadblocks ahead, with at least one state senator vowing to try to keep the bill from reaching Gov. Pete Ricketts. The governor on Thursday afternoon declined to say whether he’d veto the bill, but affirmed his opposition to it. He has yet to veto a bill this year. “I think it’s just unfair to the people who are doing the process the right way,” Ricketts said.
