Prosecutor find insufficient evidence to seek indictment against Congressional candidateIn a letter released Thursday, Toombs Judicial Circuit Dennis Sanders wrote there would be no indictment because the state could not carry its burden to prove the allegation was true beyond a reasonable doubt. Sanders was appointed to the case against McLeod and Amy Palowitch, the director of staff and operations at the Augusta Warrior Project, after Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney Ashley Wright recused her office from the case. McLeod and Palowitch were charged with false imprisonment in February after Richmond County Magistrate Chief Judge William D. Jennings III found probable cause to charge the two with false imprisonment. Janice Jamison sought the warrants based on what happened on the day she was fired from the Augusta Warrior Project on Dec. 28.
