John Kasich may be in fourth place, but he still plans on becoming presidentSYRACUSE, N.Y. -- John Kasich is in fourth place in a three-man race for the Republican Party's nomination for president. But the Ohio governor doesn't plan to throw in the towel before the GOP convention in July. In fact, he's confident he will be the next president of the United States. During an event at Le Moyne College Friday night, Kasich said he believes he will win the nomination and that he is the party's best chance to take back the White House in November. "We're going to have an open convention," Kasich said, responding to an audience member's question about his chances of winning. "And people are going to get serious about two things: One, who can win in the fall? Secondly, who actually can be president?" Kasich argued that he is the only Republican who can keep the party from "getting obliterated" in the general election in November. Delegates, he said, take their responsibility at the convention "very seriously" and that is going to help him win the nomination.
