Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was all about Rochester during a campaign rally Friday night at Monroe Community College, dropping references to everything from Finger Lakes wine to local food distributor Foodlink. The former senator and secretary of state stopped at the college's Brighton campus after earlier appearances in Buffalo as part of a hard push for primary votes in upstate and western New York. She spoke afterward to a conference of the state teachers union downtown, at one point eliciting boos when she mentioned Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has battled the union on various issues. Clinton's speech to a packed gymnasium — her campaign estimated there were about 2,200 people in the crowd — came three days after her husband, former President Bill Clinton, spoke at a union hall in Rochester. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Clinton's rival for the Democratic nomination, will visit Buffalo Monday, and his local supporters are hoping he will make a stop in Rochester, too, before the state’s April 19 presidential primary. Across the political aisle, Republican John Kasich will be in Greece Saturday, Donald Trump plans to visit Rochester on Sunday, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will be in the region sometime next week.
