PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — A group supporting the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has released a report that calculates its economic impact to be nearly $733 million for 2015. The calculation by the Seacoast Shipyard Association includes a civilian payroll of $482 million and a military payroll of $42.6 million. The Portsmouth Herald reports of the civilian amount, $274.2 million went to more than 3,470 Maine residents and $173 million went to more than 2,180 New Hampshire residents. The association says the payroll represents an 11.5 percent increase over calendar year 2014. The number of employees over the last year increased by 514, bringing the total to 6,099 employees who work at the shipyard this year. .
