TRENTON — Once the East Coast's premier gambling destination, Atlantic City is a political war zone these days. Rocked by the closure of four casinos in recent years, the city is weeks away from running out of money. And experts say if the city defaults on its debt or is forced to file for bankruptcy, municipalities across the state could see their credit ratings drop. But Gov. Chris Christie, state lawmakers, and local leaders can't agree on a plan to help rescue the city. Here is a look at where all the key parties stand: FOR A STATE TAKEOVERCHRIS CHRISTIE The Republican governor has said he's happy to sign an aid package — known as the PILOT bill — as long as the state Legislature passes a measure that allows the state to take over large parts of Atlantic City's local government.
