Northrop Grumman, one of Anne Arundel County's largest employers, could get up to $37.5 million in financial incentives over the next five years if legislation now before the General Assembly is successful. Gov. Larry Hogan has also included in his fiscal 2017 budget a $20 million conditional loan for the aerospace and defense technology contractor, which is based in Falls Church, Virginia, but has a divisional headquarters in Linthicum, near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. His administration is backing the $37.5 million in tax credits as a "thank-you" to the corporation for maintaining a presence in Maryland, even though Northrop Grumman officials say they have no intention of leaving the state. The legislation passed the state Senate last week, but faces a tougher time getting a vote on the floor of the House of Delegates.
