‘No party, no cake’: Ethan Couch spends 19th birthday in Tarrant’s tightest lockupEthan Couch turned 19 on Monday, but there was no celebration. The convicted DWI killer spent the day alone, locked in a cell at Tarrant County’s most secure jail facility in downtown Fort Worth. “No party, no cake, no ice cream,” said Terry Grisham, the sheriff’s spokesman. Experts — and many members of the public — say the juvenile court system went easy on Couch after he killed four people and injured a few more while driving drunk one night in 2013. Then 16, he was sentenced to 10 years’ probation and ordered to spend time at a rehab facility — a sentence he’s now accused of bungling. In December, a viral video surfaced showing Couch at a party where alcohol was served. While authorities were investigating whether he violated his probation, Couch missed his probation check-in and traveled to Mexico with his mother, Tonya.
